COMFORT DEVICES (NURSING PROCEDURE)

What is comfort devices?

To help and comfort to the patients through the way of to provide some comfortable devices according to their disease condition.

Purposes :

To promote comfort to the patient.
To promote health status of the patient.
To prevent unwanted discomfortness.

Major comfort devices :

1. Back rest :

    It is a mechanical device which provides support for the patient in the sitting position.mostly this is used for the dyspnea.

2. knee rest :

   knee rest may be substituted by a pillow . It givs relaxation and thus relieves pain on abdominal muscles and on tendons the knees. 

3. Bed cradle :

  The bed cradle is the best comfort device. It was support and take off  the weight of the top bed clothing .Cradles equipped with electric bulbs are used to supply the desired warmth.

4. Sand bags :

  Sand bags are used to immobilise a part as in fractures and to relieve discomfort . to prevent foot drop or wrist drop.

5. Cardiac table :

   Cardiac table is monthly used to the cardiac arrest patient. It is used for immobility patient to eat the food and medications. Its very useful to the steam inhalation. To inhale and relieve the airway substances. 

6. Pillows:

  Pillows are the best comfort device to all the parts of human body. Any condition of the patient to support and comfort with the help of pillows.
