TYPES OF POSITIONS
Supine / Dorsal position:
Supine position is the patient lieson his back with his head and shoulders are slightly elevated. Patient's legs should be slightly flexed. A small pillow is placed under head and knees to the patient.
Dorsal recumbent position:
Dorsal recumbent position is patient lies on back , knees fully flexed ,rotated feet flat on the bed.
Lithotomy position:
The patient lies on her back. The legs are separated and thighs are flexed on the abdomen and legs are on the thighs.
Lateral position:
Lateral position is the patient lies on left side with legs flexed at thighs. The upper leg is more than flexed more than the lower.a pillow is kept in front of the abdomen.
Fowler's position:
Fowler's position is a sitting position in which the patient's head is elevated. Back rest and two pillows are used for the back and head.
Prone position:
A prone position is prone lies flat of on abdomen.the full body turns opposite to the supine position.pillows are provided to the patient for support.
Trendelenburg 's position:
Trendelenburg 's position is the patient lies on his back.the patient head is low.the patient foot of the bed is elevated at 45 °angle.
These are the positions of involving to the patient.
